For his 34th NHL season, Mitch returns to the Nashville Predators as “Director of Goaltending” after 6 seasons with the NY Islanders.  Prior, Korn spent 4 years with the Wash. Capitals, 16 seasons with Nashville and 7 seasons with the Buffalo Sabres. Korn was a Stanley Cup Champion with the Caps in 2018.

His hard work, superb communication skills, ability to “dissect" a goalie’s game, and great sense of humor have gained him the respect and friendship of those he has coached and worked with at all levels. In 2010, “The Hockey News” chose Mitch as “one of the top 10 Genius’ in hockey”.

With Illya Sorokin’s nomination in 2023 and Braden Holtby’s  earning of the 2016 Vezina Trophy, it marked the 10th goalie nomination and 5th awarded Vezina for Korn as coach or director.  Dominik Hasek also won 2 MVP Hart trophies under Korn. He is the only coach in NHL history to coach a goaltender to a Vezina Trophy with two different teams (Buffalo, Washington) and to have earned 3 Jennings Trophies (fewest goals against) with 3 different teams (Buffalo, Washington, NY Islanders).

Fondly referred to as “Children of the Korn” (a phrase coined by current Nashville GM Barry Trotz) these current and former goalies (many of whom are now coaching) have benefited from and helped spread the “goalie gospel according to Mitch”.

Mitch has coached many present and former pro goalies including Semyon Varlomov, Ilya Sorokin, Cory Schneider, Thomas Greiss, Chris Gibson, Henrik Tikkanen, Braden Holtby, Philipp Grubauer, Vitek Vanecek, Robin Lehner, Pekka Rinne, Carter Hutton, Devin Dubnyk, Scott Darling, Pheonix Copley, Parker Milner, Mike McKenna, Chris Mason, Dan Ellis, Marty Biron, Dominik Hasek, and Tomas Vokoun, (to name some) along with present goalies in the Pred’s organization.

Mitch has coached and influenced many others who have (in the past) or who are currently coaching professionally. Some include: Ben Vanderklok (Nashville), Scott Murray (Wash.), Steve Briere (Seattle), Alex Westlund (Detroit), Wade Flaherty (Winnipeg), Justin Peters (Ottawa), Mike Bales (Buffalo), Olaf Kolzig (dev. for Wash.), Mike Dunham (AHL for Boston), Drew McIntyre (AHL for Winnipeg), Seamus Kotyk (AHL for Buffalo), Karel Popper (dev. for Pitts.), Dan Ellis (dev. for Chicago), Karl Goehring (North Dakota), Cam Doomany (St. Lawrence), Eric Sorenson (Lowell), Kevin Delamarter (OHL Saginaw), Jan Lasak (Slovakia), Grant Fuhr (formerly Phoenix), Corey Hirsch (formerly St. Louis), Mike Valley (formerly Dallas), and Clint Malarchuk (formerly Calgary)

In addition, Mitch has trained countless others who now are in the "hockey business" coaching goalies and others, scouting and training a "new generation" of goaltenders/players at various levels. Some include Nick Petraglia, Chris Economou, Justin Camuto, Justin Goldman, Nick Johnsen, Bob Janosz, Bill Pye, Jerome Bergquist, Robb Stauber, Cody Osborne, Dillon Caffrey, Andrew Furbush, Laura Pecchia, Bill Horn, Jim Stanaway, Nick Blanchette, Paul Trochin, Rob Spolar, Kevin Kreutzer, Rich Shulmistra, Dan Kodatsky, Tom Sullivan, Bo Kisch, Trey Dill, Alvin Dow, etc. Mitch is truly a teacher and a mentor.

Mitch has over 45 years of organizing and running summer hockey programs and is personally deeply involved in each Camp. He is absolutely “hands on”.

I cannot thank you enough for the experience you & your team provided to Emily. This is the first intensive camp that Emily has attended. It challenged her in ways I have never seen and she loved it. On our drive back to NC, she couldn't stop talking about what she learned and how supported she felt by the counselors and coaches. She is more motivated than ever for her season. Thank you for all that you do! I know that this experience has changed her and she can't wait to come back for more.

I had read and heard a lot of great things pre-camp but to see it, experience it from the dad lens was very impactful/endearing. The balance between challenge and joy you and your staff creates is spot on. It really is a fraternity in motion when you see how the camp flows from leaders, staffers, campers. I can go on and on but the picture I sent tells the story best of how an 8 going on 9-year-old felt about this week. He won a trophy this year with his hockey team and may or may not win more in his lifetime. But we see what was top of mind as he wound down his night after a baseball game, dinner and a shower. He wore the hat he won at camp all the way home, swapped it out for his team Baseball Cap for a quick game, then put it back on for car ride home, ate, showered and crashed with the Korn Cap on before he could even get upstairs. Another committed “Child of the Korn”! I’d say… Thanks for all you/the staff afforded Aaden and all the campers. Truly 5 star and something he and I will remember forever. Never was a goalie growing up didn’t know I’d be a goalie dad until I saw Aaden’s small budding passion this past year. He has more puzzle pieces for sure after this week and I do too as a “goalie dad”.

Thank you so much for all you guys did for these kids! Every parent I spoke to agreed that this was one of the most incredibly put together camps we'd ever experienced. It was so nice to have some local faces mixed in with your incredible team. Watching Andrew from day 1 moving forward was so great. Not only did I see improvement but I saw more confidence and an understanding and appreciation of criticism. We can't thank you and your team enough for this wonderful experience.

Thank you so much for providing the opportunity for the best possible goalie training to my 2 sons Pat and Einar. They learned and gained a wealth of knowledge in the camp and are excited to return next year. They made so many new friends and enjoyed training with them. We met so many amazing parents also. Your group of counselors and coaches are amazing in constantly helping and inspiring the kids. We are sincerely humbled by seeing your commitment towards youth goalie development.

I wanted to take a moment and tell you how impressed I was with the staff at defenseman camp in Duluth, MN. I was watching the day the boy got cut by a skate and the reaction time for one of the staff was beyond exceptional. He had his shirt off covering the cut within seconds of the accident. His ability to think fast and keep the boy calm was fantastic. I was very impressed. My son has been to many camps and this was a definite favorite.
